Digital assistance offers many possibilities for mobile support for employees on site: Work instructions in the form of PDFs or videos, simple checklists, process guidelines and much more.
Assistance options with augmented reality applications
- PDFs, images: locally stored files or files obtained via databases/cloud solutions, such as digital work instructions, circuit diagrams or step-by-step instructions, can be opened on RealWear devices without additional software using the so-called “Document Navigator”. This also applies to:
- Videos: Watch manual videos and pause/stop them if required. Of course, the smart glasses also offer the option of taking your own photos and videos, which can then be used as supporting manual videos.
- Applications: our software partners offer their own apps in which all steps including image/video material can be read, processed and confirmed easily and optimized for augmented reality applications. These applications often also offer corresponding interfaces to databases.
- Browser-based solutions: Right from the start, we recommend working with websites that are responsive or have their own mobile version. The rule is “less (content) is more” – in other words, the less content, the easier it is for the user to read it. And yes: of course you can also use YouTube in the browser!

Benefits
- Quality assurance: almost all processes – whether in production or maintenance, for example – require detailed step-by-step processing. With the help of digital work instructions, nothing can be forgotten or overlooked.
- Independent working: especially for new employees or employees in training, digital assistance with an appropriate software solution can be a quick step towards independent and autonomous working. At the same time, the respective supervisors, plant or production managers are less distracted from their main tasks within the company. In addition, employees can be deployed more flexibly with digital assistance tools.
- Minimization of media disruptions: Media disruptions – i.e. switching between different media – can be minimized and therefore fewer transmission errors occur. The processes themselves can be completed more quickly as a result.
- Feedback on digital assistance: the process instructions are continuously checked in the application – whether intentionally or unintentionally – and thus validated on an ongoing basis. This means that they can be improved or updated again and again.
