ÖBB Postbus GmbH wins the TÜV Austria Science Award for its Smart Glass project with Nagarro and the HMT-1
ÖBB-Postbus GmbH, a part of the ÖBB Group since 2003 is Austria’s largest bus company. The company provides national and international transport of passengers (approx. 214 million) via regular services and occasional transport services. The key challenge was to streamline the process of acquiring new buses or replacing the existing buses. The automotive vehicle inspectors were required to inspect the buses and create acceptance reports. The process was manual, tedious, and error prone. Nagarro successfully implemented the cutting edge Assisted Reality technology to make the entire workflow more streamlined.
Challenge
Eliminate the manual process done via pre-printed lists/logs in paper format and modernize the entire inspection workflow, which was tedious, time-consuming, error-prone, and poorly streamlined
Process
The process involved an inspector equipped with the voice controlled RealWear HMT-1 to conduct inspections and document defects with sound (audio), image, and video recordings. A web-based app manages the captured information.
Solution
The data of bus acceptance is uploaded and retrieved in the web app for the work order. The reports are generated at the touch of a button thanks to Smart Glass data acquisition.
Numbers that matter:
“The inspection and acceptance of the post buses by the inspectors was massively simplified and shortened by the use of Smart Glasses. In partnership with Nagarro, a solution using the latest Assisted Reality technology has been implemented very successfully.”
